Walking & Cycling

Our location on the edge of Thames Embankment and the national cycle route network makes walking and cycling to River Lane safe, easy and enjoyable for adults and children.

Public Transport

There are fast trains to Richmond from Waterloo (a journey which can take as little as 15 minutes). The District Line and Overground services also go to Richmond. This is followed by a brisk 30-minute walk along the river or a short hop by bus – the no. 65 frequently departs from the bus stop outside Richmond Station – or taxi – there is a black cab rank in front of the station.
Trains: South West Trains to Richmond Station from Waterloo and Reading
Underground: District Line to Richmond Station
Overground: to Richmond Station
Buses: No. 65 and 371 depart outside Richmond Station and in Kingston Town Centre. Alight at the Dysart Arms Pub stop, River Lane is a short walk from here.

Local Ferry Service from East Twickenham

For those coming from the opposite side of the river, Hammerton’s Ferry runs a daily service from the Embankment at Marble Hill Park across the river to Ham House, from where River Lane is a short walk along the embankment to your left as you alight the ferry. Public parking facilities are also available for visitors to the park.

During the Summer months the ferry runs from Monday to Sunday, between 10.00am and 6.00pm during the week and between 10.00am and 6.30pm at the weekends.

You can follow them @hammertons_ferry on instagram.

Travelling by Car

Public parking on River Lane is available, but it can get very busy at the weekends and it also floods when there is a particularly high tide. Unless you are travelling with at least 3 people in your car, we strongly recommend using public transport.

If you do decide to drive, allow plenty of time to find alternative parking (for example Ham Street Car Park near Ham House) if there is none on River Lane. You need to be with us at least 15 minutes before the start time for us to book you in and complete the necessary paperwork.

Late arrivals may not be admitted and in this case will forfeit their session
