Preparing for your Adventure!
For a smoother check in, screenshot your QR code and the ‘Your Purchases’ details before arrival to show our riverside team located at the canoe trailer on River Lane.
Below is a checklist to make sure you have everything to make the most of your day.
Remember, anyone taking to the River must:
be able to swim 50 metres.
be able to paddle independently.
be accompanied by an adult if under 18 years.*
wear their buoyancy aid at all times whilst on the water.
*For all of our Self Guided Adventures, the adult to child ratio on the water is 1 adult to 2 children.
Before you leave home…
Don't forget a change of clothes and footwear for the river. For more information click here.
Aim to get here 15 - 20 minutes before your activity to give you time to check-in, get changed and collect your equipment. Please note that we have no changing facilities or toilets at River Lane.
Bring your Booking Confirmation or a copy of the ‘Your Purchases’ details - this can be on your phone or printed.
How to get here…
Our location is by Petersham Drawdock on River Lane, Richmond. What3Words:/// alone.puddles.chin. Look for our riverside team by the trailer.
Being located on the Thames Path, means that you are able to easily cycle or walk to your adventure and we actively encourage you to do so.
National Rail, Underground and Overground services all stop at Richmond Station and we are then a 20 to 30 minute walk along the river. Alternatively, jump on the 65 bus towards Kingston or jump in a taxi.
Car Parking on River Lane is free, but it can get very busy, so be prepared to find an alternative parking spot. We suggest Ham Street Car Park, a 10 minute walk along the river.
When you arrive...
Check in with our riverside team at the trailer.
Please note, if you wish to add people to your booking, you should arrive early to allow plenty of time for this to be processed and kindly note that this will be subject to availability. It is always easier to email this information in advance of the day or you may be delayed in getting on the water and have a reduced paddle time.
Once you have collected your dry bag for anything that you wish to take on the water, you may leave any small bags and possessions in our vehicle at your own risk.
Follow our Steps to The River…
Equipment Collection - Craft, paddles and buoyancy aids are included with your session. The equipment collection area is at the rear of the trailer.
Buoyancy Aids are compulsory and must be worn for all of our paddlesports sessions at all times whilst on the water and will be provided.
Join your briefing and (re)introduction to paddling at your session start time and have a great time!
After Your Session...
Equipment Return - when you have finished your adventure you may be asked to carry your craft to the trailer. Please return your paddles, dry bags and buoyancy aids to the meeting area and loosen the waist, chest and shoulder straps on your buoyancy aid. Place all paddles, buoyancy aids and dry bags on the fence next to the meeting area by our trailer, unless directed otherwise.
Why not head to The Mobile Landlords, nearby, to Petersham Nurseries, a short walk away, or into Richmond and enjoy a drink or bite to eat?
Please remember to take all of your belongings with you when you leave.
If you would like to book another adventure, please visit our website and use the Book Now button to find our availability. Our riverside team will be happy to talk to you about this as well, but are unable to process bookings at the river.
If you're unsure about where to go or what to do, just ask our friendly team and they'll help to point you in the right direction.
We hope you have a great time and look forward to seeing you at Back of Beyond Adventures soon!
